Redpost Golf-July Event at Hamptworth Golf Club

Yet another fine day for golf, after all of the recent bad weather we were blessed wiith a lovely day on the superb Hamptworth course in Hampshire.Only 8 players this month but I believe it was quality and not quantity that attended. We definitely have a star player in the making in our midst (or it might be a bandit) Robin Smith. He won with a great 39 ponts if I remember correctly leading the second placed player Ken Hann and Anon (can't remember who that was) by 11 points. Anon was second on countback and Ken was third. Where is Jeff when you need him! The Longest Drive was won by someone but the Nearest Pin wasn't nor was the Nearest the Pin with the second shot on another hole. Please to say that Pinkie did not win anything and I think this was just reward for taking the p..s out of me on the 13th hole for putting 2 balls into the lake.I don't want to boast but if anyone wants to know mow I got a fantastic birdie on the Par 4 5th I am more than happy to explain how it was achieved. In fact I will tell you now.Placing my Srixon ball on my nice pink tee donated to me by Bill Needs and using my Wilson Driver, I hit a magnificent drive into the light rough to the left of one of the huge fairway bunkers and followed this up with a superbly judged 6 iron approach shot which pitched on to the top of of the greenside bunker ending up with the ball 20feet from the pin.Reading the line perfectly allowing for the right to left slope on the green the ball dropped perfectly into the hole. Birdie!! That is how you do it Russ.

following my report of last month it was good to see Brian back with us again after his 2 day retirement.I look forward to seeing you all at Dudsbury in August and await the verified results from the handicap secretary which I will post on the Redpost Website and the Redpost Blog
